Silicone Elastomeric Coatings
Silicone-based coatings for the toughest desert UV and water resistance
Silicone-based coatings for the toughest desert UV and water resistance
Silicone roof coatings outperform acrylic in the two places it matters most in the desert: ponding water and long-term UV exposure. We apply silicone-based elastomeric systems on flat and low-slope roofs that need to hold up to standing water, full sun, and decades of heat cycling.
Why silicone beats acrylic for desert flat roofs
- Tolerates ponding water without breaking down
- Far better UV resistance than acrylic coatings
- Stays flexible across the full desert temperature range
- Bonds to most existing roof substrates after proper prep
- Single-component, applied in one or two thick coats
Our application process
We start with a thorough clean and any necessary repairs to seams, flashings, and penetrations. Open seams get sealed with mesh and mastic. Then we apply the silicone in two coats, brushed at the details and rolled or sprayed across the field. The finished surface is bright white, seamless, and reflective.
How long it lasts
A properly-applied two-coat silicone system on a sound substrate typically lasts 10 to 15 years before needing a re-coat. The roof under it lasts longer because the coating absorbs the UV instead of the membrane.
